Report on the covenant update process

As has been mentioned in the minutes from the past several meetings The Crossings Board is currently reviewing and modifying the current covenants which govern the association.

After reviewing sample covenants from other area associations the board chose to select the document currently in use by the Hampshire Woods development as our starting point. We did this because their document is recent and was designed around the idea of a completed community whereas our current document was originally designed for a community still in development.

It is import to remember we are only using the Hampshire Woods document as starting point. It is a well organized document and contains some concepts we feel will work well for us. The board recognizes that our neighborhood is unique and has a character all its own. We want any new covenants to reflect that character and keep our neighborhood the most desirable place to live in Butler County. While our recommended final document will have a structure based on the Hampshire woods document our new document will be different in content than that used by Hampshire Woods.

Also mentioned in the past meeting notes, the board is planning on sending out the recommended document well in advance of the anticipated vote so that all homeowners have the opportunity review the new covenants before they make their decision.  We anticipate the vote on the new covenants to take place at the same time as the election of board members in the spring of 2013.

Please remember that all board meetings are open to our homeowners. The only part of the meetings closed to homeowners are those parts which require the board to maintain a resident's privacy.  The meetings are designed to be open to allow specific suggestions and participation on any topic from any homeowner. The meetings on the covenants are no different. All board meeting locations, dates and times are listed in the meeting minutes and on the calendar on this website. If you have any specific suggestions or concerns please let any board member know or come join us at one of the meetings.
