Crossings HOA: Official Response on the Dog Waste Issue
It has been brought to our attention about residents not picking up after their dogs in the neighborhood. We discussed this in depth at the board meeting. Unfortunately, many of the solutions that we discussed are not ideal and outside of the board's control. They are listed below:
- Providing Waste Containers for Pet's - The only place where these can be placed is on HOA board properties (common areas) and therefore very far from many houses. Pet owners will not leverage these and we do not have anyone who can empty them.
- Signage - Once again, the only places we can place signage is on common area property. These will have very little effect on the problem.
The best solution is for residents to politely confront pet owners when they discover this happening. While we understand that this is not ideal since many residents are not home when the violations occur, there is nothing legally that the board can do.
There are signs that residents can purchase and are more than welcome to place in their front yards. One such sign can be purchased at Amazon at the following link: https://www.amazon.com/Poop-Signs-Pooping-Politely-Reads/dp/B017ROHA7M
If there are any suggestions, please contact the board or come to the net board meeting on January 16th provide feedback and solutions to the problems!
Thank you!
