Annual Holiday Luminaries
It’s already that time of the year to order your Luminary supplies. For those of you not familiar with this beautiful tradition, the residents of The Crossings light luminaries on a given night in celebration of the holidays. Nearly everyone in the community participates and the result is a spectacular display of lights along the sidewalks throughout the neighborhood. We have repeated this tradition every year since 1989, so please join in the festivities!
This year’s Luminary Lighting will be held on Sunday, December 15th beginning at 5:30 PM. There will NOT be a rain date. If it rains or there are heavy winds (ie. bags are igniting), feel free to save your luminaries or light them on Christmas Eve.
Instructions:
- Purchase enough white bags and luminary candles to place one at each sidewalk seam in front of your house.
- Turn down top two inches of bag to outside.
- Place approx. 2 inches of sand, dirt or gravel (or even bird seed) in bottom of the bag to secure candle. It helps to staple candle to bottom of bag to avoid candle tipping over.
- Position luminaries on sidewalk.
- Light candles at 5:30 PM.
For your convenience, you will find an order form on the following page. Please print the order form and return to one of the neighbors listed below along with your money. The cost is $6.75 per dozen. You will need to supply your own sand/bird seed. Deadline to order is: Sunday, Dec. 1st!!!
